just jumping on here to share a few recent layouts I have done. I have had NO TIME this week to play with paper but hoping that changes tonight! Truthfully I was not too thrilled with the idea of making cards. I just don't do it often enough to like what I create BUT these cards are the exception!! I used the 8x8 paper pack from the Cakewalk collection by October Afternoon. It was created to be a birthday themed line, so I had to make a Birthday card, but I also created an everyday type of card with the papers as well!!

a Creative Scrapper's share

Over the weekend I got to play with paper!! I decided to give the  sketch over at Creative Scrapper's a go. I love working with sketches. It just takes the guess work out of the page design and lets me create more quickly, yet still make it my own!!

Here is the awesome sketch by Jenny Evans...

and here is my take using the fun "Witch Hazel" collection from October Afternoon! Love, love, LOVE this line!! I don't know what it is about Halloween papers but they get me every time. I don't even take that many pictures on Halloween...weird!!

When I started this blog I was looking forward to changing my book choice on the sidebar often.  No. Such. Luck. It took me all summer to finish what I was reading. Granted, it was a hard summer but I just never took the time to read. I finally finished "11th Hour" yesterday by James Patterson. I am a big fan of his books and this was a great one! Today I am going to start a book by my favorite author, Danielle Steel, "Friends Forever". Have any of you read this yet? If so, please let me know your thoughts!

Hard Summer

Good Morning! For those of you that are followers and members on the forum at My Scraps, you know  my story, but for those who may not, I thought that I should share why I have not been blogging.  I had all grand intentions for this blog, to highlight and share my crafty pursuits! I was even so motivated as to make my summer pictures box that you can see in a couple posts below. All of that changed pretty quickly! I got a call that my Dad was in the hospital at the end of June. He had to have surgery but his prognosis was good and everyone thought that I should stay with my plans to come and see him in July. By then he should be up and well on his way to healing!! Thank God I followed my heart and jumped in the car the next morning, driving almost 1300 miles, to see him. I arrived and visited with him on Friday morning, June 29th. He was in such good spirits  and feeling as well as could be expected after a major surgery. The morning of June 30th was about the same. I visit my Dad early in the am. We were happy to see that he really was getting better. He was up and walking, with my brothers help, a little grouchy with the nurses, (which to me was a sign that he wanted out of there!!) and his pain level had gone down some. We had a nice visit and left him to rest with the plans to come and see him again later in the afternoon but it ended up that those plans weren't meant to be. My Dad passed away the afternoon of June 30th. We had so many plans to fulfill, so many words to say...I am sure that no one is ever ready to lose someone they love. My Dad was everything to me...my confidant, my friend. I miss him greatly!!! I hope to make him proud by living my life as he would like to see and enjoying the things that make me happy. One of those being scrapbooking! Hopefully I will be creating and sharing here more. Thanks for letting me share...

Summer fun project!

Hi all! Even though today is the official start of summer, ours  offically started last Friday, with the last day of school!! We have been enjoying time spent together. Today we played the endless game of Monopoly. I swear it took over three hours to complete with me losing, of course. lol!! It was fun!!

I am determined to take a ton of pictures of all the things we do this summer. I got a great idea of a memory file system here and thought this would be a great place to chronicle all of our fun times! I  used the "Hello Summer" collection to decorate the outside of the box and for the inside will just be bits and pieces of whatever as I go along! So far I have been good about taking and printing the photos to place in the box. We will see if I keep up this pace or not but I sure hope so! In the end I think it is going to be awesome!!

On another, non-scrappy note, I finally finished the book that I was reading, "The Escape" by Barbara Delinsky. If you like present day fiction, this is one to pick up! It was an easy read...just took me awhile! My next book is going to be "11th Hour" by James Patterson. This is part of the Women's Murder Club series. Love these books so I am sure this one will not disappoint! If any of you have a  good book suggestion, I would love to hear it!

so NOT a card maker

It was my turn to host the 1st mini-challenge of the My Scraps Got Talent II contest. I chose to make a card for my Dad for Father's Day this coming weekend. Let me just say...they don't call it a challenge for nothing! haha! I NEVER make cards and I think for good reason. Doing so is just too stressful for me and I feel like they never look "giveaway" worthy.  To my surprise...I kind of like how this one turned out! It is the first card I have made and actually sent to someone!! I sure hope he likes it!!

Scrappy Time!!

Happy Monday! This past Saturday I hosted an all day crop and we all just had so much fun! Even though I did not get many layouts completed, it was nice to spend time with friends sharing this hobby that we all love!! Here is one of the layouts I created...

This son of mine can just crack me up with all of his silly ways and this was one of the times I actually got it on camera!! Nothing really special about the layout but just looking at this picture makes me smile!!

scrap{lift} Monday!

Today I got some time to work on our scrap{lift} challenge on the My Scraps & More's message board. In case you are not familiar, there are challenges posted daily and Monday's are our scrap lift day! Here is the link to check out Anna's page, which is our inspiration for today! I have had these October Afternoon paper's sitting here just waiting to be played with so I found the perfect picture of Connor from a couple of Christmas' ago and did just that!!

I can't believe that I have actually gotten two layouts done in the last couple of days! Whoo hoo!! Sometimes it feels like I go days without being able to scrap or having the mojo to do it! Let me just say that this felt good!! Now off to finish up dinner so I can get all comfy in my chair to watch The Bachelorette! Any of you hooked on the show like I am??

Good Morning! I am so excited to get my personal blog up and running again! How do you like the design? Special shout out to Allison of Green Tangerine Designs who did an awesome, awesome job...thank you!!

My plan for this blog is to share my life, mostly through scrapbooking,!
